"Volcano House"
I haven't visited the Volcano House yet, but I sure hope to someday. From what I understand it offers a truly charming experience in a very unique and memorable location.
Easily one of the most unique one-of a-kind national park lodges you will find anywhere in the world. Not only is Volcano House the only hotel in Volcanoes National Park, it is the oldest continuously operated hotel in Hawaii.
The present main hotel was opened in 1941, but this historic site has been host to some form of lodging as far back as the early 1800's.
Uniquely constructed on the edge of Kilauea Crater one of the most active volcanoes in the world. This unique hotel offers guests an overlook view of the active volcanic crater along with panoramic views of the beautiful Volcanoes National Park with Mauna Loa Mountain the largest volcano on earth in the background.
This small exclusive national park lodge offers an experience unlike any other you will find anywhere else on earth. The main house features a fireplace with a historic flame that has burned unending for over 125 years as an invitation of hospitality for guests.
Rare Koa Wood furnishings are featured throughout this historic lodge. Is it any wonder guests such as Queen Liliuokalani, Mark Twain, President Franklin D. Roosevelt, and others have sought out this exclusive location over the years to relax and enjoy the unique features and beautiful surroundings.
A bank of large picture windows in the Ka Ohelo Dining Room offer guests the opportunity to view magnificent Kilauea Crater and its steaming fire pits, while dining on a mix of Continental, American, and Pacific Rim cuisine.
The Ka Ohelo Dining Room also features a fine breakfast and lunch buffet. If you just want something light. A convenient snack bar is available for guests to pick up a sandwich, chili, hot-dog, fruit or salad dish.
Uncle George's Lounge is an intimate spot to relax and enjoy a fully stocked bar, along with signature cocktails such as Pele's Fire, Kahlua Smoothies, and Mai Tia's while enjoying spectacular views of Kilauea Crater and Mauna Loa Mountain.
