About Me Page
"Let
me Introduce Myself"
Hello my name is Sandra
I am not comfortable writing an about me page. I would rather write about some interesting National Park Lodge, but I will give it a go.
The first thing I want to stress is that this web site is a "personal work" in progress motivated from over 35 years love and appreciation for these many great "National Park Lodges" built for the most part just after the turn of the last Century in some of this Nations most Scenic, and Remote Back Country.
I am "not a travel agent" and neither myself nor this web site are associated with or affiliated to any official "Travel Agencies or Corporations"
I am just a simple traveler who ( except for "Volcano House" Hawaii, and I hope to visit it some day soon ) has enjoyed repeat visits to many of this Nations "Great National Park Lodges" over the years, and trekked untold miles exploring the "Beautiful Backcountry" of the Parks they are located within.
My love of these "Great Park Lodges" started as a child. For a few years my family lived in Great Falls, Montana. My Dad was a Pipeline Welder and an avid Outdoorsman. He worked hard about six or eight months out of the year and spent the remaining time in the great outdoors of what ever location we so happened to be living near at the time.
The "Glacier Park Lodge" in "Glacier National Park" Montana was the first of many "National Park Lodges" I was fortunate to visit as a child and it still holds a special place in my heart. The Grand Lobby of the "Big Trees Lodge" inspires the same feeling of Wonder from me today as it did back in 1973, when I first saw it.
My Dad along with my Brother and I visited all of Glacier's many Park Lodges and Chalets over the years, some repeatedly as we trekked many miles exploring the parks great wonders both on foot and horseback.
"Yes" I was and according to some still am a "Tom Boy" saddling a horse, packing a set of panniers to ride level, or cooking biscuits in a Dutch oven on a bed of coals is old hat for me. I keep my hiking boots oiled and a few miles of mountain trails are still a joy I look forward to.
I felt privileged as a child and young adult to have traveled with my family all over this country seeing and experiencing so many of the beautiful sights the West and northwest have to offer, even if it meant attending 14 different schools before graduating High School.
I was a teenager before I realized that everyone didn't live out of a "Airstream Camping Trailer" parked some where in a remote KOA campground most of the year. My Brother followed my Dad and took up Pipeline Welding as a trade. I eventually married and relocated, but I still have close family ties and we all try to spend a few weeks each year together in some beautiful remote location.
It was during a recent 5 day stay in one of "Zion Park Lodges" wonderful cabins that my Brother suggested I should take the experience and passion I have for "National Park Lodges" and build a web site. "I thought he was crazy" I don't know anything about web site building "I said"
I barely no how to get around the little Compaq computer I have But he explained how there is a place called "Site Build It" who will take you by the hand and not only "Teach you what you need to know to get started" They will host your site, and provide all the support you could possibly need to be successful.
I was very doubtful of all this "It sounded to good to be true" but as they say curiosity killed the cat. When we returned home after our trip I thought I would at least check it out. My Brother said I should take 30 minutes out of my life and watch the Site Build It Video Tour .
I was intrigued but still unsure until I started watching some of the Testimonials from other successful SBI owners just like you and me who built web sites about their own passions and interests. Before I know it my Brother purchased a SBI package for me and said "Happy Birthday" so I decided to give this personal web site building adventure a try.
I am proud he did because just a few months ago I never would have thought a "Hayseed" like me with very little computer skills, and only an old laptop could actually start to build a web site about something I have been passionate about all my life. As soon as my Brother returns from a job he is off on for the next few months he plans to start his own site.( I bet it will have something to do with welding or construction )
If you truly are interested in creating your own website Please watch the Site Build It Video Tour and be sure to check out some of the wonderful Testimonials from others who have been successful. I am sure you will be intrigued just as I was.
After you have explored the great possibilities SBI has to offer you can find some more very helpful website building tips, strategies and resources to help you along your way at this great how to make a website information website.
This web site is early in its development. I plan to add information and features continuously to try and provide as much information as possible for anyone thinking about a visit to one of this Nations "Beautiful National Parks" and the amazing "Historic National Park Lodges" within.
I have added a "Contact Me Forum" to the bottom of this page. I welcome any and all questions, suggestions, or comments by you the viewers of this web site. I assure you I will personally read and respond to all.
Soon I hope to offer an option where you to can contribute and post your own "National Park Lodge" experiences, stories, advise, tips and photos to this site for everyone to see and enjoy.
Sincerely: Sandra
